We Don't Oversell
No matter what package you're using, you won't find any oversold servers here!
So, why is overselling such a big deal?
The hosting market is full of smaller hosts who simply can't compete with well-established hosting firms. When these firms enter the industry, they don't have the resources that other hosts do, nor do they have the experience to price their services equitably. This often results in two things: pricing that is not sustainable and leads to the demise of the hosting firm itself (as they do not take into account all their costs) and 'overselling'.
Put simply, overselling is when a host sells more server resources than it actually has. For example, if a host has space for 50 GB disk space and 2 TB of data transfer, if they sell 100 GB disk space and 4 TB of data transfer to their clients, they are overselling. This is a gambling game, and is essentially risking the money of their clients in pursuit of additional money.
But it's not only smaller hosts who engage in overselling - many large hosting firms oversell on their servers and risk the client's site's stability.
Overselling leads to servers being overcrowded, and eventually - in most cases - to either downtime or sites performing slowly.
That's why you'll never catch us overselling. We don't. And we never will.
What about unlimited disk space?
In the hosting market today, you will find promises of 'unlimited disk space' and bandwidth. The truth is, no matter the size of a host, it is simply not profitable nor possible to provide either of these. With these packages (oftentimes) comes a small price tag - and something called a Fair Usage Policy. This means that, after a certain point, all unlimited hosts will suspend or terminate a client's services due to their server resources running low.
When this point happens, clients get confused and quite rightly annoyed as to why they've paid for unlimited hosting, but simply don't receive the service they're paying for.
That's why, at iFuse Hosting, we do not offer unlimited packages. We don't want to be in the business of broken promises.
What about your VPS servers?
Any nodes on which we host our virtual private server clients are not oversold. Absolutely nothing on the VPS is burstable (although we do provide swap-space), which results in everybody receiving the level-of-service they've paid for, and not being subject to any other customer's excessive requirements.
